Private Nursing Home

Content

Private nursing homes are among the institutions that provide care to meet the needs of individuals whose physiological processes are in their final stages before they can withstand the effects of time. In elderly care, addressing the physiological and psychological needs of the individual is crucial. Because all the needs of the elderly can be met comprehensively, private nursing homes can support the maintenance of health.

Private nursing homes can provide services in accordance with the “Aging and Health” program created and envisioned by the World Health Organization. These institutions employ specialist caregivers, doctors, physiotherapists, nurses, kitchen staff, security guards, and cleaning staff to contribute to the care of the elderly.

Istanbul Private Nursing Homes

Private nursing homes in Istanbul encompass all care facilities established within the city. As Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul has a need for nursing homes due to factors such as urban life, economic problems, a high working population, and a large elderly population. There are two types of nursing homes in Istanbul: privately owned and state-run.

Specially designed nursing homes can easily meet the expectations of the elderly in terms of service and comfort. A large number of elderly people may become isolated from social interaction and feel lonely due to aging. Nursing home environments, however, will support individuals in socializing with peers their own age and participating in social activities.

Private nursing homes support the maintenance of health through their comprehensive healthcare staff. Expert personnel conduct routine health checkups and provide treatment for elderly residents with chronic illnesses. The specially designed nutritional programs in these institutions are tailored to the age, health, and calorie needs of the elderly individuals.

In addition, existing physiotherapists organize specialized rehabilitation programs for individuals requiring physical therapy. Relaxation and music therapy rooms within the facilities are designed for individuals to socialize or relax to music. A 24/7 camera system allows relatives of the elderly to monitor these shared relaxation and music rooms.

Those looking for nursing homes on the European side of Istanbul have the option of choosing Büyükçekmece Nursing Home, while those looking for nursing homes on the Anatolian side of Istanbul have the opportunity to choose Pendik Nursing Home.

Private Nursing Home Admission Requirements

Private nursing homes have certain requirements to ensure the care and overall health of their elderly residents. Those who do not meet these requirements are not accepted into these centers. The primary requirement is age. According to the World Health Organization, the age at which an elderly person can receive care in a nursing home is 55. For more detailed information regarding the admission requirements of private nursing homes, you can contact Asude Life and Health Center.

Apart from this, all existing admission requirements are among the general information required for all nursing homes. These requirements have been established and regulated by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services. The required conditions are:

  • Older people will need to prove that their mental health is sound. Individuals with neurological disorders affecting mental health will only be able to receive care in private rooms within elderly care centers.
  • It is essential that elderly residents do not have infectious diseases, as the presence of infectious diseases in the elderly can negatively affect other residents of the nursing home.
  • Individuals applying to private nursing homes must not be addicted to alcohol or drugs. The presence of harmful habits endangers the safety of others.
  • The applicant must not be bedridden and must be able to independently meet all their care needs. Care for elderly individuals who are bedridden or unable to fully meet their independent needs can only be provided in care centers.
  • Elderly people will need to prove their financial hardship.

Regulations for Private Nursing Homes

The regulations for private nursing homes were created as a result of comprehensive work by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services. These regulations contain information required for nursing homes that are planned or already in operation, whether opened by individuals or private legal entities. The regulations include procedures and principles regarding opening processes, operating conditions, service standards, fees, number of personnel, personnel status, inspections, transfer, and closure.

The regulation consists of 6 different sections and contains a total of 42 articles. These articles were created in 2008 to enable real and legal persons to legally open a private nursing home and provide services within this scope. Subsequently, various amendments were made to the procedures and principles, and it was fully adopted in 2012.

Compliance with this legally established regulation is mandatory for all nursing homes. Failure to comply, and its detection during inspections, may result in various sanctions. These sanctions include fines, suspension of services, and closure of the nursing home.

Private Nursing Home Prices

Private nursing home prices are determined according to regulations established by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services. Each institution sets its monthly fee based on these regulations. The content of the services received is also very important in determining this price. Private nursing home prices are determined on a monthly basis, and payments can be made monthly. Factors affecting the price in nursing homes include:

  • Number of beds in the room (single, double, or triple)
  • Physical therapy fees,
  • Whether there is a need for an accompanying nurse,
  • The presence of mental health conditions in the patient such as Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s,
  • Need for physical therapy,
  • Whether or not they are bedridden, depending on their health condition,
  • Use of diapers
  • Medication and hospital fees are included.

The presence or absence of the above-mentioned criteria will cause price differences. The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services determines both minimum and maximum prices based on certain criteria such as cleaning, companionship, technical services, daily care services, and membership fees. Each private nursing home sets its prices so that they cannot be less than the minimum price or more than the maximum price. Finally, VAT is added to the determined fee to finalize the monthly fee.
